Meghan Markle is pushing for royal reunion and UK move but King Charles has one condition

Meghan Markle appears to be seeking a “part time” reunion with the Royal Family, which King Charles may accept but on one condition, according to sources.

The Duchess of Sussex has reportedly been considering a “reconciliation” with the Firm, after she and Prince Harry stepped down as working royals in 2020 and have since become estranged from his family.

Due to the couple’s “financial woes”, Meghan has been weighing up spending eight months of the year in California, where the Sussexes currently live in Montecito, and then the rest of the time renting an apartment in Kensington Palace.

She is said to believe the arrangement could “potentially aid in repairing the strains on her marriage with Prince Harry”, while also helping to mend their “relationship with King Charles, who has expressed a desire for the family to be reunited”.

However the source said that the idea could only work under one condition from the King – that the couple stop trashing the royals in the media.

An insider told Life & Style magazine: “Meghan and Harry have to agree not to speak ill of the royals again. That’s a must. It would be an utter embarrassment if they were to be kicked out of the family for a second time.”

Following Harry and Meghan’s birthday phone call with the King last month, relations were said to on the mend between the two warring families, with a possible invite to Sandringham at Christmas not ruled out.

However, with the release of Omid Scobie’s Endgame and the ensuing controversy surrounding it, the family’s anger is likely to have been reignited.

Royal expert Duncan Larcombe explained that while there seemed to be little chance of a royal reconciliation anytime soon, there would always be a “way back” for the Duke and Duchess.

He told New magazine: “I think the Sussexes are aware the Prince and Princess of Wales are still furious. There’s always a way back.

“Look at Camilla – she was the most hated person in Britain and now she’s the Queen. If that’s possible, anything’s possible. But as things stand at the moment, I’d say it’s pretty unthinkable.”

Meghan is already launching her latest initiative with the Archewell Foundation, after the organisation’s tax fillings for 2022 were published this week.

This year the Duchess started the Welcome Project, which supports “women-led programming for recently resettled Afghan women to help build more inclusive and connected communities”.

There are already 11 initiatives from the project active across the US, in California, Montana, Texas, Wisconsin, D.C., Georgia, Massachusetts and Virginia, and they are “designed to foster a sense of belonging” through activities including sewing, cooking, hiking, photography, and swimming.
