Meghan Markle is ‘excellent at making a great first impression’, etiquette expert claims

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, 41, excels at making an impression, but there is a “science behind the Markle charm,” according to etiquette expert Myka Meier.

A former member of the late Queen’s household is said to have provided Ms Meier with etiquette training, making her an expert in royal protocol.

Ms Meier said: “Meghan is excellent at making a great first impression and there are some techniques that we often spot her using that you can use at your next party too.

“From her posture to her facial movements, there is a science behind the Markle charm…and anyone can learn it,” she told Fabulous.

The expert claimed that in order to be “most approachable”, Meghan will hold her clutch bag or accessory in her left hand so that her right hand is available for handshakes.

This also means that she does not have to switch hands in an awkward gesture when greeting people.

Ms Meier added: “When you enter a room and after you are introduced to everyone, hold a drink.

“It makes you appear more social and approachable at a party!”

Another thing Meghan will do, according to the expert, is smile with an open grin so that she appears more “likeable”.

This also allows those who greet the Duchess to feel equally important, according to the etiquette expert.

According to Ms Meier, Meghan is able to make individuals around her feel significant despite the fact that she interacts with hundreds of people at charity events.

Using their name as a strategy is one method to accomplish this, according to the etiquette expert.

Therefore, Meghan will use people’s names directly and mirror their body language to reinforce this notion of everyone being respected.

According to Ms Meier, if someone leans back or forward while chatting to the Duchess, she will mimic that posture to make the other person feel at ease.

The etiquette expert advised that whether royal fans are seated or standing, their shoulders should always be rolled back and their chin should remain parallel to the floor.

This is because crossed legs lead to better posture, as emphasised by most members of the Royal Family.

Ms Meier claimed: “No matter if she is sitting or standing, we see Meghan practising stellar posture.”
