Meghan Markle has 'final say' on whether Prince Harry and family visit the UK, expert says

Meghan Markle holds the reins when it comes to deciding on a UK visit, and ‘could never be forced’ to come over, according to a royal expert.

Prince Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and started a new life with children Archie and Lillbet in Montecito, California.

Now royal commentaror Richard Fitzwilliams claims it is Meghan who would have the final word on any potential family visits to the UK.

Since the left for the USA, Harry has made a handful of visits back home – including visiting his family after his father King Charles was diagnosed with cancer.

Speaking to Bella magazine, Fitzwilliams said: “Meghan has the say. There’s no doubt Harry wishes to convey he is a very devoted family man and will put them above everything else. Just like William.”

He added that Harry was “extremely unlikely” to come over to the UK with the children without his wife, and that she “could never be forced to”.

His comments come as Prince Harry faces a hefty £1million bill after being instructed to pay back taxpayers following his loss in a legal battle with the Home Office over security arrangements.

Prince Harry has been hit with a hefty bill after the High Court ordered him to cover 90% of the Home Office’s legal costs following his failed challenge regarding his police protection in the UK. The Duke of Sussex had taken the government to court over a decision by Ravec to alter his security arrangements when he’s in Britain, reports the Mirror.

Despite a previous ruling, a representative for Prince Harry stated his intention to appeal, asserting that the Duke “hopes he will obtain justice from the Court of Appeal”.

However, it was confirmed on Monday by a judicial spokesperson that Prince Harry’s initial attempt to overturn the decision has been unsuccessful.

While the total amount Prince Harry must pay remains undisclosed, a Freedom of Information request has uncovered that the government’s legal expenses amounted to £514,128, including hefty fees for barristers and solicitors, alongside court costs.

It is believed that Prince Harry’s own legal expenditure mirrors this figure.
