Meghan Markle grabs an In-N-Out burger with a friend while Harry opens the Invictus Games

Meghan Markle was spotted at an In-N-Out drive-thru while Prince Harry was away in Germany opening the Invictus Games.

In photographs that appear to have been taken by staff inside the burger restaurant’s kitchen, The Duchess of Sussex can be seen grinning at the drive-thru serving hatch, behind the wheel of her $140,000 (£112,000) black Range Rover.

With her hair tied up a ponytail and sporting stylish oversized sunglasses, Meghan flashed a smile as she waited for her order.

The In-N-Out branch is one that is close to the Sussexes $14.6m Montecito home. A regional chain of fast food restaurants with locations primarily in California, In-N-Out burgers are hugely popular – and are hit with Duke and Duchess.

Last year, Meghan revealed she and Harry liked ‘surprising’ the staff at the branch close to their home. She told Variety: “There’s one at the halfway point between L.A. and our neck of the woods. It’s really fun to go through the drive-thru and surprise them. They know our order.”

Harry has previously said that his favourite In-N-Out order is the Double Double, with fries and a Coke. Meghan, however, spices up her regular order of cheeseburger, and fries by adding a side of jalapenos.

While Meghan was embracing American fast-food traditions, Harry was embracing a wheelchair rugby player – by kissing him on the head – at the Invictus Games. The Duke, who is the event’s founding patron, shared the moment with Team US player Davey Martinez as he presented medals following the action on Monday.

Athletics and wheelchair rugby were the two sports contested on day two of the games, which are being held in Dusseldorf, Germany. The duke watched the action at the Merkur Spiel-Arena without his wife Meghan, who is expected to join him at the games later this week.

Harry first joined spectators in the stands to watch a host of track and field events, including 100 metre and discus finals for different classifications. He then moved over to the indoor court to watch matches in an eight-team wheelchair rugby knockout tournament. Meghan is expected to join Harry in Dusseldorf later this week.
