Meghan Markle encouraged by friend to 'do the right thing' as father's health declines

Meghan Markle has reportedly been urged by friend Lizzie Cundy to bury the hatchet with her dad before it’s too late.

Thomas, 78, has undergone a number of health scares in recent years and suffered a stroke in May last year that not only left him hospitalised, but also affected his speech.

He missed Meghan’s royal wedding to Harry in 2018 after undergoing heart surgery, shortly before suffering a second heart attack.

Thomas still hasn’t met his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, as he and his youngest daughter have become estranged, due to some members of the Markle family leaking stories to the media which have criticised her.

But with his health in dire straits, he has issued his ‘final’ interview in which he pleads with Meghan: “How can I fix this?”

Now Lizzie – who met Meghan at a charity event held by her pal John Caudwell – in 2013, reportedly wants her to reconcile with her father, who has seen his other children Thomas Jnr and Samantha come to his aid, while she still can.

The 54-year-old told the Mirror: “Meghan needs to do the right thing at last before it’s too late

“Her dad is seriously ill, he’s had a terrible stroke and he’s trying to reach out to her – family is everything, she needs to realise it, as does Harry.”

It has been said that Meghan had been concerned about Thomas’ condition and held out an olive branch, while a source told the paper: “Despite their estrangement, Meghan is concerned.

“She wants to know if there is any way to contact her father privately, without other family knowing about it or having to get involved.

“If she can contact their dad, she wants it to be totally private, it won’t involve Netflix, it won’t involve any photographs and it must not involve any tip-offs to the paparazzi.”
