Meghan Markle could use her 42nd birthday to announce her 'next move' with Prince Harry

Meghan Markle will turn 42 tomorrow, and although it is not known exactly how she will celebrate, many have speculated she will enjoy her day privately with her husband Prince Harry and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, at home in Montecito.

It has been a tricky few months for the couple, as they have been plagued by rumours that both their finances and their marriage are in trouble after their partnership with Spotify came to an end.

Friends of the couple have vehemently denied they are on the verge of breaking up after it emerged that Harry would make a solo visit to Africa for a work trip.

However it remains to be seen what’s next for the Sussexes professionally, other than their new programme documentary Heart of Invictus scheduled to air on Netflix very soon.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk about whether Meghan may use her birthday as an opportunity to announce new projects.

He said: “With her new agent, I expect some news of what the Sussexes next move might be soon. Harry awaits a court decision and probably more days on court in the witness box.

“They have lost Spotify, their popularity seems to be on the wane on both sides of the Atlantic, it couldn’t be much worse here and the future is totally unclear.

“So what’s next, THAT is the big question, especially as they have the capacity, as Harry’s witness box appearance and the ‘near-catastrophic’ car chase in New York showed, to galvanise the press, whom they are also so often at odds with.”

In April Meghan signed with top Hollywood talent agency William Morris Endeavour (WME), who also represent her friend Serena Williams, but she has not yet made any new announcements about future deals made through them.

Harry and Meghan did make a rare public appearance online with the release of a new video this week, showing them congratulating winners of the Responsible Tech Youth Power Fund on the phone.

For almost three minutes the Sussexes can be seen congratulating the award holders, with their Archewell Foundation a founding member of the fund.

In the video the couple briefly give an update on their children, as midway through the video Harry says: “Thank you for doing everything that you do. Our kids especially, are incredibly grateful”, as Meghan nods beside him.

The Duchess then adds: “They don’t know it yet, but they will” while pointing with her index finger, a statement Harry repeats in agreement.

The next confirmed joint engagement for Harry and Meghan will be the Invictus Games in Düsseldorf, Germany, which run this year from September 9 – 16.
