Meghan Markle has made a surprise visit to a children’s hospital in Los Angeles, where she broke a big royal rule. She was at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles to help with their Make March Matter campaign.
The actress wore an Oscar De La Renta dress with see-through sleeves and designer shoes to meet the children, an outfit that cost a large sum.
Meghan read books to the kids there, reading stories like Rosie the Riveter, Pete the Cat, and I Saw a Cat. The Duchess also took photos with the children using a Polaroid camera and signed her name on the pictures. However, royals are not supposed to sign autographs, reports the Mirror.
Princess Kate explained this rule when she went to the Chelsea Flower Show’s first Children’s Picnic last year. When a child asked Kate to sign her name, she said, “I can’t write my name, but I can draw.”

Another child asked for her autograph, and Princess Kate said, “My name’s Catherine. I’m not allowed to write my signature, it’s just one of those rules.”
Instead of signing, she drew a picture of a flower, a tree, and a pond with plants.
King Charles once said no to giving an autograph, explaining: “Sorry, they don’t allow me to do that.”
Royals are not supposed to sign things because someone might copy their writing.
Meghan Markle went to a kids’ hospital as part of the CHLA’s Literally Healing reading programme. This programme gives out over 65,000 books every year.
It helps families read more and supports them with special books that make them feel better.
