Meghan Markle braces for 'fresh showdown' with royals over next career move

Meghan Markle could be left facing a “fresh showdown” with the Royal Family with her new entrepreneurial efforts, a royal commentator claimed.

After trying her hand as a podcaster and film producer, the Duchess of Sussex has kept fans waiting as she keeps hush-hush about her next project.

But royal analysts have suggested Meghan could be eyeing a return to her blogging days – and an influencer career rivalling the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow and Reese Witherspoon.

However, expert Daniela Elser noted the shift to even more commercial waters could cause more attrition with her royal in-laws.

Elser said: “As the clock ticks down to le grand moment when Meghan’s reportedly entrepreneurial offering is finally revealed with all the bells, whistles and overwrought, capitalized noun-strewn press releases you might expect, could this be setting the stage for a fresh showdown with Buckingham Palace?”

Since her divorce from Prince Andrew in 1996, Fergie has whipped out a series of autobiographies and children’s books, became an ambassador for Weight Watchers and even participated in a reality TV show.

But the commentator noted a stark and clear difference that could make an entrepreneurial career more difficult for Meghan to follow.

She added: “In all of this, her royal title was time and again hauled out to sell, sell, sell; the words ‘the Duchess of York’ thoroughly taking on the pong of the ruthlessly commercial.

“Throughout this, the Palace’s strategy has been to continually distance themselves from her commercial derring-do, arguing that given she was no longer married to Prince Andrew, Duke of Yuck, she was therefore technically no longer part of the Royal Family.

“But that tactic won’t work here. Meghan is the King’s daughter-in-law and still very much a member of the family, no matter that Camilla keeps deleting her number.”
