Meghan Markle beats Princess Kate as most stylish royal – but there’s a catch

After reigning supreme in the style stakes for so long uncontested, it looks like Kate, Princess of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall and Cambridge, has finally been overtaken.

According to new data from high street fashion retailer Karen Millen, Meghan Markle beat her sister-in-law, 41, to the post.

In fact, the research which looked at the most stylish celebrities showed Meghan, 42, had 661 percent more search on Google with fans interested in her sartorial choice compared to Princess Kate.

There were 2,306 monthly Google searches into Meghan’s fashion choices versus Princess Kate.

Moreover, Meghan is even more popular than American pop star Taylor Swift, whose clothing choices garnered 1,951 search queries a month.

The research also looked at TikTok with Meghan getting an average of 58.4million views on videos relating to fashion hashtags.

Interestingly, though Princess Kate beat Meghan on TikTok with more interest significantly higher at 381.4 million views on videos.

Princess Kate also beat Meghan on Instagram with more fashion hashtags relating to her than the ex-actress.

However, it was Jennifer Lopez who came out on top on Instagram with the most number of fashion-related hashtags.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Express Amy Priestley, Senior Brand Manager at Karen Millen said: “With the royal family proving such an influential force, it’s no surprise that fans are interested in replicating or understanding their dress sense – no matter their role, reception, or background.

“Meghan Markle has received widespread criticism for curbing royal protocols – such as wearing bright nail polish, black outfits outside of funerals, and shorts – but these bolder choices and the confidence she wears them make her stand out from the crowd.

“Those looking to exude confidence and embody current trends should look to Meghan for inspiration, while those who want classier and more conservative outfit inspirations are better off looking to Kate Middleton.”

Interestingly, Karen Millen was one a favourite high street brand for Princess Kate who was previously seen sporting a deep mauve dress and a yellow outfit with a pleated skirt.

Princess Kate has also been known to favour the likes of L.K. Bennett, Topshop, Zara, Boden, Jigsaw, Whistles and Reiss.

Meanwhile, some of the designer outfits she’s worn include Jimmy Choo, Jenny Packham and Alexander McQueen.

Her wardrobe choices have had a huge impact on the Royal Family with pieces selling out immediately after the royal wears them.
