Meghan Markle and Queen Camilla are far from style twins – 34 years apart in age and with totally different roles and responsibilities.
However, while Camilla tends to favour a traditional coat dress and Meghan more trendy, modern attire, they have the same taste when it comes to a certain type of necklace.
Both royals have been spotted wearing personalised necklaces on several occasions, a sentimental nod to their respective families.
Queen Camilla is very fond of a particular gold pendant necklace featuring a ruby central stone and engraved with the initials of her five biological grandchildren.
The letters “L”, “F”, “G”, “L” and “E” symbolise Lola, Freddy, Gus, Eliza and Louis.
Tom Parker Bowles’ two children are Lola and Freddy, and Laura Lopes’ children are Eliza, Gus and Louis.
Camilla has worn this necklace on a number of chains over the years.
The sweet piece honours some of the children close to her heart that aren’t in the royal spotlight.
Meghan has also been spotted donning sentimental jewellery, stepping out at Wimbledon in 2019 wearing a dainty “A” necklace shortly after the birth of her son Archie.
Emma Swann, founder of Verse Fine Jewellery, gifted Meghan the meaningful necklace.
She told Vogue: “I’ve had so many orders my website crashed twice! My poor IT guy, it’s keeping him on his toes.”
Ariel Gordon Jewelry confirmed that the Duchess of Sussex also has one of their personalised necklaces.
Just last night, the brand took to Instagram with a picture of Meghan wearing the necklace, captioning the photo: “And just like that … Meghan wore her AGJ Imperial Disc Necklace out to lunch with her girlfriends.”
It’s unclear what Meghan’s personalised necklace says, but for those who want to recreate the royal’s look, it’s priced between $2,520 – $3,235 (around £1,979 – £2,540). For those on a budget, there are planty of jewellery brands that sell personalised pieces.
Meghan fans were delighted to see the Duchess wearing the necklace. Molatelo Phochana commented: “It’s beautiful … she has amazing taste.” Hilary Baer Hogan added: “Best necklace of all time.”
