Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's next move 'hugely important' to determine Sussex success

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been warned the next professional step they take will be “hugely important” to define the Sussex of their brand.

Since stepping down from their royal roles, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have heavily focussed on their strained relationship with the Royal Family, sharing intimate details of their experience with the monarchy.

But following the release of Harry’s memoir earlier this year, and the subsequent drop in popularity the couple experienced, they now appear ready to move forward with their plans to create a new life completely away from their royal links.

Royal commentator Christina Garibaldi welcomed Harry and Meghan’s recent visit to New York to mark World’s Mental Health Day as a good template for their future media strategy.

She said: “This is what they probably need to do going forward. Whether or not everybody is going to be fully invested or fully interested remains to be seen.”

Fellow Royally US webcast host Christine Ross echoed the sentiment and suggested their next event will “determine a lot”.

Ross said: “I think their next move is hugely important in terms of their whole future. It’s good we’ve seen this World Mental Health Day event, it’s a good step in the right direction.

“But as far as what actually happens next with their next step really determines a lot.”

Speculation about what Harry and Meghan will do with their lives next has been rife in recent months – with suggestions that the Duchess could be considering a career in politics in the future.

But commentator PDina warned the couple would be ill-equipped to handle the pressure of a political life and suggested Meghan could instead bank on her blogging experience.

She said: “Meghan is definitely going to be doing her The Tig, the website.

“That’s the only way she’ll be able to really make money because that’s something that she owns. To her credit, it was already doing pretty well before she stopped it and I think that would be a great choice for her.

“I don’t know that politics will be the thing because they can’t really stomach criticism.”

The Duchess of Sussex shut down her beloved blog only a few months before she became officially engaged to Prince Harry in 2017.

However, her legal team has maintained the copyright for the blog’s name active since, fuelling speculation that Meghan could someday relaunch the website.
