Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's focusing on strong brand with him being 'one of the boys'

Prince Harry and Meghan had three jam-packed days in Canada, spread across Vancouver and Whistler, and it seems to be a part of their new branding, says a royal expert.

Daily Express US spoke exclusively to Pauline Maclaran, a professor at Royal Holloway, who said: “I think Harry and Meghan seem to be developing their Sussex brand in quite strong directions.”

She added: “First there are the fairly large nods to their royal credentials as reflected in the new website and these issues have been widely discussed.

“However, they do appear to be developing their own personal branding strongly in conjunction with this. Harry has been making quite a splash over his Canadian trip for Invictus and this is what he is good at – being one of the boys as it were.”

Harry and Meghan were quiet for a few months, and then last week we found out what they’ve been working on.

Harry did do an interview while in Canada, speaking to Good Morning America, but it wasn’t controversial, nor were there any bombshells. The prince mostly him chatted with presenter, Will Reeve, about winter sports.

When Reeve did ask Harry about King Charles’s cancer, the prince said, “That’s between me and him.”

Macalaran believes the interview was handled well, saying: “His well-publicised interview managed to avoid any revealing details around his father’s health, and he made sure to emphasise the Invictus Games aspects.”

And, while Harry and Meghan are working on the Sussex brand, recently launching www.sussex.com, it seems there’s a focus on individuality, as well, with Maclaran saying: “Meghan, in turn, has announced her podcast deal with Lemonada Media, a woman run enterprise, and this direction makes sense for her.”

“Although she received criticism for her Archetypes, this was initially quite a success and in my view has been a good learning curve for her.”

Maclaren makes a good point, this isn’t Meghan’’s first podcast. Now that she has some experience, she may be set for success.
