The unexpected tweet sent fans into a meltdown, with one user @hellen3030, who was the top comment, replying with a laughing GIF of the late Queen Elizabeth.
Another person @tanyapoulter said: “Oh this is GOOOOOOOD!” and @Defenestrate123 agreed, penning: “Oh my God! I’m dead…”
While user @rwbcat admitted: “I’m going to @DelTaco today just because they made me laugh,” with @karmac84140342 saying they will do the same, adding: “I must go to a Del Taco today! Just cuz the sense of humor is the best!”
Elsewhere in the replies, @wrapthx pointed out: Your going to be waiting a very long time considering they have no official social media presence.” [sic]
Since stepping down as Royals, Meghan and Harry do not currently maintain a public social media presence.
While the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Archewell Foundation frequently shares updates on their philanthropic work on its website, the couple swiftly shut down their @SussexRoyal Instagram page after they announced their intentions to step back from their royal roles.
It’s not the first time the pair have been made fun of on TV, as earlier this year an episode of South Park aired which seemed to mock the couple’s pleas to want privacy from the media and public.
The episode was named The Worldwide Privacy Tour and featured the “prince of Canada and his wife” on a mission to find privacy and seclusion.
The fictionalised Prince and Princess of Canada, which appeared to represent Harry and Meghan, were seen making their way to their seats at a funeral service of the late Queen, where they were being booed and slandered by the crowd.
A reference to Harry’s best-selling memoir, Spare, was also made, as the host of the programme showed to the public the memoir – titled “Waaagh” in the cartoon.
A source close to the pair alleged they had been left “upset and overwhelmed” by the cartoon.
