Meghan Markle and Prince Harry can still secure royal peace after King's subtle 'move'

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s hopes for a royal reunion are still alive, according to an expert.

Despite the Sussexes’ strained relationship with the Royal Family following their dramatic exit from the UK and subsequent revelations about their time in the Firm, they were noticeably absent from the Christmas celebrations at Sandringham last month.

Instead, they chose to spend the festive period in California with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

However, there was a surprise guest at the Royal Family’s annual Christmas Day walk to church at Sandringham.

For the first time in over 30 years, Sarah, Duchess of York, joined them. The ex-wife of Prince Andrew had been ostracised from the Firm following a scandal and had fallen into serious debt.

This week marked the fourth anniversary of the Sussexes announcing they would be stepping down from royal duties and moving to the US.

Since then, they’ve made deals worth millions with companies like Netflix, chatted with Oprah Winfrey on TV, and Harry has written a book that’s got everyone talking.

But it hasn’t been all smooth for them. Last year, Spotify cancelled their deal, they’re still having a tough time with the Royal Family, and people are wondering what they’ll do next in their careers.

Royal expert and historian Dr Tessa Dunlop has shared her thoughts on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s departure from the Royal Family.

She told the Mirror: “It is four years since Harry and Meghan left the Royal Family. So long ago that even the term Megxit feels dated (it always had sexist connotations).

“But for the Sussexes time has flown – three different countries, that Oprah ‘truth’ dump, a baby girl, Spare that record-breaking book and a couple of landmark court cases, not to mention the world’s most public family fall-out.”

She continued: “The end result is a couple who have planted themselves firmly on the other side of the royal Rubicon. For better or for worse. Now is when it gets hard.

“The dust has settled with the zeitgeist moving away from royalty after a bumper two years of death, scandal and kingship. Where does that leave the Sussexes and their brand’? I expect privately they may well be wondering the same.”
