Meghan Markle and Prince Harry biographer steals Princess Kate's thunder on crucial day

A crucial day for the Princess of Wales has been overshadowed by a huge announcement about a biography about the lives of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Princess Kate made a keynote speech at the Design Museum for the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood today (November 15), where the Shaping Us symposium was being held.

The Shaping Us campaign aims to raise awareness of the importance of the first five years of a child’s life, and has been critical to Kate’s lifelong work to improve the lives of children and their families.

Sadly for the royal, the event has been somewhat overshadowed by the first part of Omid Scobie’s new book Endgame being serialised in People magazine in the US, ahead of its official release on November 21.

Mr Scobie, who previously wrote Finding Freedom, the 2020 unofficial biography of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, has promised explosive details about the royal fallout in his new release.

The book description on Amazon claims Endgame will be “a penetrating investigation into the current state of the British monarchy.”

It goes on to say: “An unpopular king, a power-hungry heir to the throne, a queen willing to go to dangerous lengths to preserve her image, and a prince forced to start a new life after being betrayed by his own family.”

Some chapter titles suggest Mr Scobie will go in-depth into the rift between Harry and his older brother Prince William, with two separate chapters called: ‘Gloves On: Prince William, Heir to the Throne’ and ‘Gloves Off: Prince Harry, Man on a Mission’.

Many have speculated that the timing of the release could be another swipe at the Royal Family, due to Kate’s major speech at the symposium, although the book will not be serialised in the UK.

Dressed resplendently in a purple power suit, Kate called for “action at every level” to aid the rebalancing and restoring of society’s social and emotional skills.

She stressed how critical the early years are for a child’s development and that a safe and loving environment was essential for all young people to develop healthily.

While chatting to event compere Fearne Cotton, the Princess revealed her youngest child Prince Louis had also taken part in the Shaping Us study for early years.

She explained: “Louis’ class, they came back with a feelings wheel, it’s really good, these are five or six year olds, and they go in with names or pictures of a colour that represents how they feel that day.

“So there is a real keenness in school particularly to get involved in conversations, it’s actually helping continuity across the board and then how does that feed into you, with your mental health, so to be able to find a bit of framework, to talk about this, is very important.”
