Meghan lacks 'courage' to attend Coronation – would be 'horrendously embarrassing'

Meghan Markle doesn’t have the “courage” to attend King Charles’s Coronation, according to a royal biographer. Angela Levin claimed that Meghan’s appearance at the event would be “horrendously embarrassing” for the Duchess as the royals seek to distance themselves from the Sussexes.

Ms Levin claimed that it was “quite easy” for the Duchess to criticise the Royal Family from afar, but facing them in Westminster Abbey would be another thing altogether.

“I don’t think that she’s got the strength and the courage to come,” said Angela Levin. “I think it’s quite easy to spur nastiness when you’re thousands of miles away, it’s quite another when you’re absolutely there and you get cold looks and nobody wants to speak to you, apart from discussing the weather.”

She continued: “She’s quite gauche when it comes to being with royals and because she doesn’t feel she’s number one she’s awkward about it.

“And, of course, she hasn’t had enough experience to feel at ease and confidence because she zoomed off to Canada too soon.”

The comments come amid speculation over whether Meghan and Harry will attend the King’s Coronation on May 6. Although the Sussexes have received an invitation, they have refused to respond – at least publicly.

The event will see around 2,000 guests, including royals, heads of state and other dignitaries, attend the ceremony in Westminster Abbey to see King Charles crowned.

Although the King immediately became monarch upon the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth II, the Coronation will mark the change in his titles as well as his position as head of the Church of England.
