Meghan had 'ambitions' to marry Prince Harry and did 'enormous amount of planning'

Meghan Markle’s marriage to Prince Harry reflects “an enormous amount of planning and ambition”, one royal expert claims.

Royal commentator Jonathan Sacerdoti suggests the seeds of the Duchess of Sussex’s ambitions were sown from an early age and her guiding vision will help steer the Sussex brand as it enters a new phase.

It is yet to be seen what this new phase will entail but signs suggest a rebrand is on the horizon for Harry and Meghan.

Last month a source claimed that the couple are going to “stop” making tell-all Netflix documentaries, publishing memoirs and taking part in interviews about the Royal Family because there is “nothing left to say”.

And the pair’s multi-million-pound deal with Spotify has been nixed less than a year after the debut of Meghan’s ‘Archetypes’ podcast on the platform.

Amid all this upheaval, Mr Sacerdoti claims Meghan’s enterprising spirit will help steer the Sussex ship moving forward.

Meghan’s marriage to Harry is a shining example of her ability to seize an opportunity and run with it, he claims.

Speaking to Sky News, he said: “She grew up with high ambitions and started to reach them as an actress – putting in the work, obviously not a terribly successful actress in terms of being well known internationally.

“She then married Prince Harry and then she has become probably one of the most known or recognisable names in the world just by marrying somebody.

Whatever the couple decides to do next, polling suggests they have a mountain to climb.

The latest 2023 YouGov polling suggests the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s popularity is slumping in the UK.

Harry gained an approval rating of just 27 percent, and his wife just two points more.

Speaking Express.co.uk, Mr Sacerdoti suggests support on this side of the atlantic may not matter as much.

They may be aiming at a completely different market internationally, or in America, and maybe at younger people rather than older people,” he said.

”So maybe in leaving behind the royal family, they’ve chosen to market themselves towards a totally different demographic and therefore, they maybe don’t mind that slide in popularity here.”

Since stepping down from royal duties in 2020, Harry and Meghan moved to Montecito, California, where they have pursued a number of media adventures while raising their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
