Meghan and Prince Harry 'moving back into trusted sphere' after Hollywood break fails

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry haven’t had it easy since they announced they would be stepping down from their royal roles.

Their split from the Royal Family was already a heavy burden for the couple but the allegations they have levelled against the institution have only further exacerbated the rift with Harry’s closest relatives.

And a series of hurdles on their path to success have left many wondering what the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will do next to secure not only their livelihood but also their global position.

Royal expert Natalie Oliveri suggested Harry and Meghan already offered a glimpse into their plans – and a celebrity lifestyle no longer appears to be on the agenda for the couple.

Oliveri argued a recent video the Duke and Duchess released ahead of Meghan’s 42nd birthday last week signals a significant turn back towards a “trusted sphere” they know works for them.

Writing for 9Honey, the royal expert said: “The fresh start, in the week of Meghan’s 42nd birthday, is desperately needed but it begs the question, what is next for the Sussexes and do they still have the impact they once did?

“They’ve announced a number of calendar events, largely centred around charity.

“The new focus seems to indicate their hopes of breaking into the celebrity world has failed and instead they are moving back into the trusted sphere of charitable events.”

Prince Harry will be kicking off the Sussexes’ new strategy this week with a brief visit to Japan and Singapore.

The Duke will be joining close pal Nacho Figueras to attend the ISPS Sports Values Summit-Special Edition in Tokyo on August 9.

The pair will then be travelling to Singapore to play in the annual Sentebale ISPS Handa Polo Cup at the Singapore Polo Club.

He will then be heading back to Europe in September to attend this year’s edition of the Invictus Games in Dusseldorf, Germany.

While Meghan is not expected to accompany him to Asia, she has rarely missed joining him for the Games since before the pair married.

Oliveri suggested the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s new strategy suggests they understand following the royal playbook could be a safer option for them.

She continued: “If Hollywood is turning its back on the Sussexes, their renewed focus on charity appears to be the only avenue left for them.

“For a couple who’ve shunned the Royal Family and all it represents (except titles for their children), perhaps Harry and Meghan have realised they need to return to the tried and true formula employed by generations of royals before them: give back to those in need.

“By choosing duty over self-interest, only then, perhaps, will Harry and Meghan be able to get back on track.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex last week also announced their Archewell Foundation had helped launch a new initiative on promoting research into technology.

Announcing the creation of the Responsible Technology Youth Power Fund, Harry and Meghan shared a special video showing them as they contact members of the first cohort of the project to confirm their selection.
