Meghan and Harry could mirror 'Brand Beckham' with fragrance and make-up brand deals


It had been suggested that Meghan was about to sign a multi-million dollar deal with fashion house Dior, however this claim has since been denied by the fashion house.

Discussing what the pair could get up to next, Nick Ede told OK! Magazine: “I think that Harry and Meghan are going to go down the brand route. Meghan has always loved this idea of creating this whole sort of lifestyle environment that people buy into.”

Mr Ede said that Harry and Meghan could forge deals with a number of big companies, particularly the Duchess as she is likely to “see the financial benefits”.

The expert added that Harry may be keen to “emulate” the success former footballer David Beckham has had with brands such as Adidas and Haig Club.

He continued: “I think they would emulate this. I think they will look at those business models that the Beckhams have done, whether that’s monetising their suits, monetising their eyewear or monetising their fragrance.

“Maybe they might even come out with a scent or be the face of one of these products.

“Eyewear, fragrance, hair care and make-up are the things that make money. If you look at Victoria Beckham, her fashion brand doesn’t make money, but her make-up and beauty range is one of the biggest sellers in the world.

“I think Meghan will be eyeing that up and thinking, ‘OK, I could probably do that and really engage a great demographic of people.’”

The Beckhams were once friendly with Prince Harry and were among the many celebrity guests at his wedding to Meghan in Windsor in May 2018.

However it is thought the couples have now grown apart after Meghan reportedly accused Victoria of “indiscretion”.

Yet Mr Ede still believes that the Sussexes could be as big as the Beckhams by “playing on their looks”, explaining: “They are a glamorous couple like the Beckhams and they are both families with kids – that’s a really strong way of creating a brand identity.

“Meghan is very beautiful. She’s mixed race. She’s got gorgeous skin, gorgeous hair, a gorgeous body and gorgeous looks.

“She ticks every box when it comes to that and if you’re a brand and want a brand ambassador, then she’s the perfect person to have.”
