Meghan and Harry accused of squandering ‘goodwill’ since wedding

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have missed the chance to fix the “goodwill” between them and the Royal Family.

While the Duke of Sussex has been confirmed to be attending King Charles III’s Coronation, Meghan will stay in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Royal expert Nick Bullen said that despite Meghan missing the landmark event being “a quiet relief” for the royals, there is a “sadness” she won’t be there.

He noted that Charles walked Meghan down the aisle in 2018 when Thomas Markle couldn’t attend.

Speaking to Fox News, Bullen said: “If you look back to Harry and Meghan’s wedding, there was so much goodwill for them.

“There was so much that they could have done for the monarchy. This would’ve been another moment that allowed us to see how good they could have been.

“I think it’s sad for everybody – for them, for the family, for the nation, for the Commonwealth.

“It’s sad that opportunity has been lost, and it will never be regained.”

The True Royalty TV co-founder also said however that Meghan missing the Coronation “avoids so many situations”.

“It avoids all cameras being trained on Meghan when it’s the King’s day,” he told Fox.

“People would be waiting to see what their reactions are. Do people give side eye to each other in the front row?

“I think the fact that she isn’t coming is a good thing. The fact that [Prince Harry] is coming is a good thing.”

But while the Duchess is missing the Coronation, journalist Camilla Tominey believes it is “unlikely” Meghan will return to the UK “ever again”.

Speaking on the Telegraph’s Youtube channel, she added that Meghan may never come to the UK again.

She said: “The idea of Meghan returning to Britain… will she ever again? Who knows? It seems unlikely because she had made her life in America. She doesn’t seem to see any future back with the royals.

“That’s interesting because most of the damage has been done by Harry. We can hark back to the Oprah interview and Netflix documentary, but the real hurt being caused now is by his memoirs.”
