Mauricio Pochettino sends clear message to Chelsea owners and Nicolas Jackson

Mauricio Pochettino has told his Chelsea team to ‘grow up’ after Nicolas Jackson received a ban just six matches into the Premier League season. The Blues forward has already picked up five yellow cards, earning him a one-match suspension.

Four of Jackson’s yellow cards have been for dissent. Pochettino revealed last week that he has already spoken with the £30million summer signing about his conduct.

But that chat does not appear to have had the desired impact. Jackson was yellow-carded again in Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat by Aston Villa on Sunday and will now miss the trip to Fulham next weekend.

In a swipe at Jackson, Pochettino has told his side to ‘grow up’. The Argentine said: “We were talking, we need to grow up like a team. Nico is young and is feeling the Premier League.

“Football is about winning but players when they are young need to learn. That is why we feel disappointed. We have too many situations like this.”

Pochettino has also called for patience from the Chelsea hierarchy. He said: “Of course they are disappointed but at the same time they need to support the plan.”
