Massive explosion as vital weapons manufacturing plant in Russia goes up in flames


A manufacturing plant in Russia has gone up in flames – the latest in a series of explosive incidents at sites used to produce weaponry for Vladimir Putin’s war effort.

Video circulating on social media shows a huge explosion at Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant, where engines are built for T-72 and T-90 tanks operating on the frontline in Ukraine.

It is also an important production site for equipment used in Terminator armored fighting vehicles and Moscow’s self-propelled artillery.

Russian Telegram channel Mash said a transformer exploded, which could cause issues with power supply in the city of Chelyabinsk, located 80 miles north of Kazakhstan in inland Russia.

The fire has been raging for the past few hours.

Rescue services have been dispatched to the scene, but as of this writing, no casualties or injuries have been reported or confirmed.

It is the latest in a string of explosions at key military production sites in Russia.
