Mason Greenwood gives rare interview as Man Utd star continues to be linked with transfer

Mason Greenwood has revealed that he is happy at Getafe in a rare interview following his loan move to Spain. The forward has impressed since joining the La Liga outfit from Manchester United, with his performances catching the eye of top clubs around Europe.

Greenwood hasn’t featured for the Red Devils since January 2022, when he was arrested and later charged with attempted rape, assault and controlling and coercive behaviour, which he denied.

In February, the Crown Prosecution Services (CPS) dropped the charges due to the ‘withdrawal of key witnesses’ and the emergence of ‘new material’. However, United insisted that they would carry out their own internal investigation into Greenwood before reintegrating him into the squad.

After six months, it was ruled that Greenwood would leave the club – with the backlash to reports suggesting that Greenwood would stay proving decisive in the decision-making process. The England international promptly joined Getafe on loan, and he has made such an impression that the Spanish side are keen to retain his services beyond the summer.

Speaking about how he has settled in at the Estadi Montilivi, Greenwood said: “Everything’s fine, I adapted pretty quickly. My team-mates took me under their wing and I’ve just been happy ever since coming here, training and playing the games,” Greenwood was quoted as saying in an interview conducted by the club.

“The fans mean a lot to me. The best feeling so far is when I scored my first goal here at the stadium and it meant a lot to me, I heard the fans quite a lot. Also we had the training day and a lot of fans came out and watched so we always appreciate the fans, they’re like an extra man out there on the pitch when they’re out there supporting us.”
