Martin Brundle awkwardly left in limbo by Anthony Joshua during US Grand Prix grid walk

Martin Brundle was forced to wait for an uncomfortably long period of time to chat to boxing superstar Anthony Joshua ahead of the United States Grand Prix.

The legendary broadcaster was doing his trademark grid walk segment for Sky Sports F1 when he came across the boxing icon, who was having a chat with another individual.

Brundle paused to wait for a chance to speak to Joshua, but unfortunately for the 64-year-old, the boxer was in no rush to end his conversation prematurely, leaving the Sky Sports presenter awkwardly standing by for over a minute.

When Joshua did eventually get around to chatting to Brundle, he was keen to talk about his new investment in the Alpine F1 team after news broke that a host of celebrity athletes have pledged funds towards the French outfit.

The 34-year-old has been joined by the likes of NFL superstars Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes, Liverpool midfielder Trent Alexander-Arnold and golfing legend Rory McIlroy in chipping into Otro Capital’s investment.

Speaking about his new project, Joshua told Brundle: “Sport is changing, we’re crossing over and I have a great team that I work with.

“Obviously, F1 is massive but, hopefully, Alpine can have direct, committed supporters and fans like myself now, who will be here head-to-toe in Alpine gear. What I’m here to do is raise awareness for the people who don’t know enough about Alpine.”

While Joshua did leave Brundle waiting for his answers in the interview, the two-time world heavyweight champion did provide some passionate responses and offered some advice for Alpine drivers Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly.

“You need to keep a cool head in there,” Joshua explained when asked what insight he could give his drivers. “We were working on some reaction games, some quick thinking.

“Like boxing, it’s about milliseconds, it’s about seeing the punch coming at you and reacting to it. So these guys are the same, it’s about reacting to certain situations, corners.”
