Man's body pulled from canal in UK city as emergency services rush to area


A man’s body has been pulled from a canal in Greater Manchester.

Police, paramedics and water rescue teams were called to Ashton Canal in Droylsden, Tameside, at about 8.40am on Saturday (August 19).

Offiercs were called to reports of a suspected body in the water.

 

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said a man was pulled from the canal and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin will now be informed.

A screen has been erected at the scene off Copperas Lane with a stretch of the canal’s towpath taped off by police.
