Maniac stabs three in savage broken bottle attack at supermarket

A New York City madman went on a stabbing spree that began at a Midtown Manhattan Whole Foods Market and continued into the Subway station before finally getting stopped by the brave men and women of the NYPD.

The New York Post is reporting that Michael Howell began his campaign of terror at about 6:45 p.m. ET on Thursday (October 5), when he smashed his first victim in the head with a glass bottle.

The scuffle continued when Howell, 33, went into the store with the broken bottle and stabbed a woman with the shards.

Howell then stormed into a Subway station to continue his campaign of terror, hopping into the station at the corner of 47th Street and 7th Avenue to attack a 55-year-old woman who was on a train.

That’s when the NYPD sprang into action, and stopped Howell dead in his tracks on the corner of 46th Street.

He was arrested on the spot and charged with assault, and taken into custody without further incident.

The victims, meanwhile, were all in various states of disarray.

Though all three were admitted to the hospital in stable condition to receive treatment for their injuries, witnesses reported that they were all bloodied and shaken from the attack.

Howell was booked into the NYPD Midtown South precinct shortly after his capture.

It’s not clear what provoked the attack, or whether Howell knew any of the victims he attacked.

It’s also unclear whether Howell has a prior criminal record.
