Manhunt for fiancé of pregnant teacher found dead steps up as police search parkland


Police are searching for the partner of a pregnant teacher who was found dead in suspicious circumstances, Express.co.uk understands. Marelle Sturrock, 35, was found dead at her home on Jura Street in Glasgow – with police now hunting for her partner David Yates.

Ms Sturrock’s baby, which was due to be born in the summer, also died. 

Officers investigating her death have been searching for a missing man in the area of Mugdock Country Park near Milngavie.

Police have not formally confirmed the identity of the wanted man, but Express.co.uk understands it to be Mr Yates.

Ms Sturrock’s death is being treated as “suspicious”.

Officers have been spotted combing the 600-acre Mugdock Country Park near Milngavie, Dunbartonshire – located just eight miles from where the teacher’s body was found.

The couple’s flat was cordoned off and under police guard yesterday, as two officers in white forensic suits headed into the property.
