Man Utd tell Mason Greenwood his chances of return depending on Getafe form

Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood has been told there is no way back for him at Old Trafford however well he does on loan at Getafe.

The former United starlet, who is on loan with the Madrid-based side until the end of the season, could have returned to the club when he is finished next summer.

But United’s hieracrchy have made it clear that envision a different path for the forward which will not include a return to Manchester.

United have put in place a series of steps where he’s going to be able to get career up and running elsewhere.

In private discussions with Greenwood they have stressed they hope he will be able to get his career back on track.

Greenwood, 22, was shipped out of United to join the La Liga side on transfer deadline day this summer.

The arrangement came amid huge outside pressure on United not to welcome him back into the fold.

Greenwood had been charged in October 2022 with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault.

But those charges were dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service in February earlier this year after a key witness withdrew support.
