Man Utd takeover bidders 'put off' by Mason Greenwood and two other players

Controversy surrounding Mason Greenwood and two other Manchester United stars is dissuading bidders from increasing their offers, according to reports. Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe remain the two key takeover hopefuls, although the Glazers are showing no signs of compromising on their price tag.

Off-field issues have made the job that much more difficult for manager Erik ten Hag, who has overseen a torrid start to the Premier League season. The club received fierce backlash when rumours indicated that Greenwood would be brought back into the fold at Old Trafford.

The youngster was charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault last October. Greenwood denied the charges and they were subsequently dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service in February.

The 21-year-old has since been shipped out to Getafe on loan for the season. According to The Times, recent controversies surrounding Jadon Sancho and Antony, as well as Greenwood, is ‘doing nothing’ to draw a higher offer from either Sheikh Jassim or Sir Jim.
