Man Utd star Marcus Rashford 'faces axe' as Erik ten Hag has firm belief

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is ‘facing the axe’ amid the England international’s poor run of form. The United No 10 has netted just once in seven Premier League matches during a disappointing opening to the season for Erik ten Hag’s side.

Rashford scored a career-high 30 goals in all competitions last season but could be dropped as United search for goals elsewhere. The Sun have reported that the forward is ‘facing the axe’ for their game against Brentford with Anthony Martial or Alejandro Garnacho tipped to come in.

Ahead of Saturday’s game at Old Trafford, the United boss Ten Hag gave his firm belief that Rashford’s form would change. He said: “There is the team and him – and there’s both. It’s normal that you are not always right in the same levels.

“Everyone knows his qualities. We have seen that he is getting in good positions. He is struggling but it will pass. Everyone at United backs him, the whole team supports him and believes in him.

“I’m sure with that it will change. Strikers, when they don’t score for a moment, they need one goal, then they step over. It will come. The momentum will come and he will be on fire.”

United already sit nine points behind leaders Manchester City after just seven league games. With Ten Hag looking to turn their fortunes, the Dutch boss could also drop Casemiro for the first time this season against Brentford.
