Man Utd star Bruno Fernandes makes Donny van de Beek feelings clear after departure

Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes has shown his support for Donny van de Beek after the Dutchman completed a loan move to Eintracht Frankfurt. Van de Beek has struggled since arriving at Old Trafford in 2020 and will hope that a temporary spell with the Bundesliga side can recapture the form that prompted United to sign him.

Van de Beek made just 62 appearances and scored two goals for United, including two outings this season and it was made clear by Erik ten Hag that he was surplus to requirements. His loan was confirmed on the opening day of the January transfer window and the 26-year-old spoke about his delight at the opportunity to get his career back on track.

“New year, new chapter! Really happy to be part of this great club,” Van de Beek wrote on Instagram. In a video posted on social media, the midfielder said: “Hello Eintracht fans, it’s Donny here. I’m very happy that I can join you guys. I can’t wait to start and I hope to see you soon in the stadium. All the best.”

Replying to Van de Beek’s Instagram post, Fernandes commented: “Keep that smile bro” accompanied by a heart emoji, showcasing that he has a strong relationship with the United flop who replied with another heart emoji and a prayer emoji.

Fernandes has demonstrated that there are no hard feelings over Van de Beek’s inability to make the desired impression at United even though he was unable to recapture his Ajax form under boss Ten Hag for a second time.

There have been complaints from the likes of Roy Keane and Gary Neville over the 29-year-old’s leadership qualities but behind-the-scenes efforts with players out of favour such as Van de Beek often go unnoticed.

Frankfurt have an option to buy the Dutchman during his loan spell should he impress in Germany, which United will hope is triggered as they look to trim the wage bill and raise funds for further incomings during the summer window.

Van de Beek could make his debut on Saturday as Frankfurt host Freiburg in the first match since the Bundesliga’s winter break came to an end. The club are ecstatic about his arrival and with United captain Fernandes in his corner, he has been tipped to make a big impression.

Eintracht’s ‘board member for sport’ Markus Krosche said: “Donny van de Beek fits our playing philosophy perfectly and is an important piece of the puzzle for our squad. He brings plenty of international experience, which our young players will profit from. Donny also carries a goal threat and should be particularly useful when it comes to getting our forwards into promising positions.”
