Murphy’s recent comments mark a stark contrast to his opinion last year, when he took to live radio to protest at Fernandes’ on-field antics and claim that United would not win a major title with him as captain.
“This ain’t a captain of Manchester United moving forward if they want to compete and win back the Premier League and become Champions League winners,” Murphy told talkSPORT. “They are not going to do it with him as captain.”
But 12 months later, Fernandes has won Murphy over with his form on the pitch and dedication to the club and earned the nine-cap England man’s respect in the process.
