Man Utd rejected by striker as Sir Jim Ratcliffe hit with nightmare scenario of selling up

The news comes at the same time that Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who recently purchased a 25 per cent stake in United, is said to have learned that he may have to bizarrely sell up at Old Trafford in just 18 months. According to The Sun, a filing on the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has revealed that the Glazer family will not be able to entertain offers for United for the first year after February 13, unless Ratcliffe’s Trawler Ltd gives written permission.

But after the first 18-month period has passed then the Glazers are able to sell United outright, which would therefore force Ratcliffe to sell his newfound shares in his boyhood club to the new buyer. The INEOS owner is keen to implement significant changes over the coming months, though his tenure potentially being cut short could see those plans change.
