Man Utd offer Rasmus Hojlund injury update as Erik ten Hag handed Christian Eriksen blow

Manchester United have confirmed that Rasmus Hojlund and Christian Eriksen will both spend time on the treatment table after withdrawing from Denmark’s squad for their upcoming international fixtures. Both players were injured during United’s win over Luton Town on the weekend, which saw the Red Devils claim all three points thanks to a rare Victor Lindelof goal.

United have since confirmed that Hojlund suffered a muscle strain against the Hatters but the 20-year-old could be in line to return before the end of November. Eriksen, meanwhile, picked up a knee injury that will keep him out of action for around a month if he manages to recover without any further setbacks.

A statement reads: “Christian has a knee injury that is set to keep him out for around a month, while striker Rasmus suffered a muscle strain. It is hoped he will return before the end of November.”

The injuries to Hojlund and Eriksen will compound Erik ten Hag’s growing woes at United, with the Red Devils already missing a large number of senior players. The likes of Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, Jonny Evans and Casemiro have been sidelined as of late, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka was not involved against Luton due to illness.

United will be forced to cope without many of their injured stars in a number of crucially important fixtures after the international break. Their next task will be a trip to Everton on November 26 before facing Galatasaray in a crunch Champions League clash three days later.

The Red Devils will then go up against Newcastle, who beat them in the Carabao Cup earlier this season, before hosting Chelsea at Old Trafford on December 6.
