Man Utd 'may have new Kevin De Bruyne' but Erik ten Hag faces losing him like Chelsea

Manchester United have been told they could have the next Kevin De Bruyne in their ranks after Donny van de Beek completed a loan switch to Eintracht Frankfurt. However, the Red Devils face playing the role of Chelsea in De Bruyne’s story due to his disastrous spell at Old Trafford.

United wasted no time trimming Erik ten Hag’s squad in the January transfer window, confirming Van de Beek’s temporary exit on New Year’s Day.

Frankfurt have the task of reigniting the 26-year-old’s stalled career and rediscovering the exciting talent that caught the eye at Ajax.

The Bundesliga outfit have the option to sign Van de Beek for around £12million at the end of the season, but he could also return to United for a second bite at the cherry.

Former United player Paul Parker believes Frankfurt could have the same impact on the Netherlands international as De Bruyne’s move to Germany in 2014.

“This could end up being another Kevin De Bruyne story, to be honest. The same could happen to him,” Parker told wettbasis.com.

“He could replicate what he did at Wolfsburg and get a move back to a very big club in the future.

“I really hope he does that because he is a lovely lad. He was never given the opportunity to prove people wrong, and I hope he will do that now.”

De Bruyne left Chelsea in an £18m deal in January 2014 after a lack of opportunities at Stamford Bridge.

Manchester City saw something in him at Wolfsburg and, after less than two years, splashed a then-club-record £55m for his signature.

The 32-year-old has gone on to establish himself as one of the best midfielders in Premier League history.

However, even if Van de Beek enjoys a renaissance at Frankfurt, Parker doubts United and Ten Hag will profit after “letting him down” in M16.
