Man Utd flop gets phone call from Lionel Messi to persuade him to sign for Inter Miami

Rojo is still only 33, but after leaving Manchester United in 2021 following a seven-year spell with the Red Devils, many assumed his high profile football career was over. Boca Juniors are an incredibly respected team and one of the heavyweights in South American football, but a move to Miami may tempt the defender.

Miami have already raided a South American club in December, after they agreed a deal with Brazilian side Gremio to cut short Suarez’s contract and seal a switch to the United States. Miami are looking to strengthen their spine ahead of the 2024 MLS season, and Rojo has been identified as a top target.

With Messi and Suarez up top, Miami are already expected to dominate MLS with Busquets controlling the midfield and Alba operating as an attacking full-back. Rojo would give Miami stability at the back, while also offering them a threat from set pieces, something that Messi is a master of.
