Murtough discussed Varane, Casemiro, Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial with Saudi Pro League clubs but failed to secure a deal for any player. Ten Hag has admitted that talks are ongoing with a number of players, but refused to comment on whether Varane would pen an extension at the club.
“We talk with the players and, of course, with their agents,” Ten Hag said. So this is an internal process between us, the club and the players, and I can’t debate this.”
Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof and Hannibal Mejbri are expected to be given one-year extensions, but United are not going to take up such clause in Martial’s contract and he will depart as a free agent at the end of the season unless a January suitor comes calling.
