Man Utd ditching Jadon Sancho may trigger 'immediate' Liverpool transfer for Jurgen Klopp

Sancho has returned to Germany on loan for the rest of the season, having excelled during his first spell in Dortmund. The 23-year-old struggled to bed in at Old Trafford and ultimately fell out with manager Erik ten Hag before agreeing a temporary exit.

With 50 goals in 137 games for BVB between 2017 and 2021, Sancho has a golden opportunity to establish himself as a mainstay of Edin Terzic’s starting XI and reboot his career. Malen is likely to see his game time limited as a result.

According to journalist and transfer expert Christian Falk, the versatile forward could be sold ‘immediately’ as a result of Sancho’s arrival.

Reports indicate that Dortmund first attempted to offload Malen as part of a swap proposal for Sancho before the transfer window opened in January, but United knocked back the offer to leave the door open for Liverpool.

Bild stated back in November that the Reds retain an interest in Malen, who changed agents last year to spark fresh speculation around his future. The 24-year-old has scored five goals in 15 Bundesliga appearances this campaign.

Although Liverpool are yet to make a concrete move for Malen, there is plenty of time remaining before the window slams shut, and Klopp will naturally be keen to strengthen his squad ahead of the Premier League title run-in.

Malen is represented by the same agency as Cody Gakpo, who has made a solid start to life at Anfield since completing a move from PSV in January last year.
