Aaron Wan-Bissaka has reportedly been left in limbo over his future at Manchester United. The defender was expected to extend his contract at Old Trafford after proving his worth to Erik ten Hag, but negotiations are said to have now gone cold following the Red Devils’ poor start to the season.
United have struggled in their opening 10 matches of the campaign, winning five and losing five. Their shaky start to the season leaves Ten Hag’s troops in eighth place in the Premier League and in serious need of finding some form.
Key players, such as Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford, have failed to lead by example and the entire squad appeared drained of both confidence and ideas. Thus, the higher powers at the Theatre of Dreams have taken the decision to put plenty of off-field matters on pause until the team start performing.
According to the Daily Mail, Wan-Bissaka’s contract extension negotiations appear to have ‘gone quiet’ as a result. The right-back was locked in talks with United over a new deal and confidence was growing between all parties that a positive resolution would be reached.

However, those negotiations have now stalled and Wan-Bissaka has been left in the dark over whether those talks will be reignited. United, instead, are more likely to activate a one-year extension clause in the 25-year-old’s contract to ensure that he remains on their books until 2025.
The ex-Crystal Palace was expected to leave United previously but was able to recover his career under Ten Hag and prove that he is capable of playing at the very top level. Wan-Bissaka has been a big miss for the ex-Ajax manager in recent weeks after he sustained a hamstring injury in mid-September that has required a gradual recovery plan.
