Man turns himself into police after two hurt in 'accidental' shooting in restaurant

A man has turned himself into police after a gun he was carrying accidentally discharged at a Washington state restaurant.

Redmond Police Department said officers responded to a call of a shooting at Sages Restaurant in the 15900 block of NE 83rd Street just before 8pm Friday.

Police said a male customer walked into the restaurant and the firearm he was legally carrying discharged and ricocheted off the floor, injuring two people.

Reports say that the bullet struck one customer in the elbow, while a second victim was hit with shrapnel.  Both victims were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the suspect fled the restaurant before officers arrived on the scene.  However, he later went to Redmond police station and surrendered himself and the firearm.

He was booked into Score Jail without incident on a charge of reckless endangerment.  Investigators believe the firearm discharged accidentally and the suspect had no relation to either of the two victims, reports Fox News.

The multiple award-winning restaurant was opened in January 2001 by owner-chef Bart and wife Jerri and serves rustic Italian/European fare.
