Man tries to sell drawn-on sofa for £750 on Facebook Marketplace

A dad has left Facebook users in stitches after trying to sell a sofa covered with permanent marker drawings.

Esfandiar Aria posted the DFS settee on Facebook Marketplace, hoping to sell it for £750, despite it having been covered in pen by his child.

In photos of the cream sofa posted, there appears to be no rhyme or reason for the markings, mainly being lines and squiggles other than an image of a car.

The dad claimed there was “nothing wrong” with the sofa, having only got it a few months ago.

He said in the listing: “This is a beautiful creamy Winston three-seat sofa from DFS. Used only for a few months. Recliners: Electric/ automatic.

“Reason for selling: My little one drew all over it with black ink permanent marker. There is nothing wrong with it except what you see.”

He originally listed the sofa, which must be picked up from Luton in Bedfordshire, for £1,250 but reduced it to £750.

Facebook Marketplace users thought the post was hilarious, with one commenting: “Being a father of a sweet girl, I can relate.”

Others joked about the vision of the sofa, likening the children’s work to Banksy and saying “this is art”.

One person said Aria should “take it to a modern art gallery and sell it for £5million”.

From the pictures, it appears his children also managed to extend their permanent marker gallery onto the back wall.
