Man 'brought back from the dead' say there's no 'light at the end of the tunnel'

A man who says he “died” and came back to life says there is “no light to go towards” but claims he stood beside his body in the “peaceful spirit realm”.

Kevin Hill, 55, has calciphylaxis, a serious, uncommon disease in which calcium accumulates in small blood vessels of the fat and skin tissues.

The condition caused Mr Hill’s skin to blister and the dead tissue started eating away at his ‘live’ skin, which meant he was constantly in excruciating pain.

Things got so bad he was hospitalised and lost five pints of blood before his heart stopped and doctors had to resuscitate him.

Mr Hill said ‘dying’ and coming back to life was actually a peaceful experience and he felt like he was in the “spirit realm” beside his body.

Against all the odds, he made a full recovery and said doctors dubbed him “the miracle man”.

Mr Hill, a writer from Derby, said: “I wasn’t looking down at my body, but I was separate from my body.

“It was like I was in the spirit realm. I was conscious of what was going on but I had so much peace. I knew I was bleeding. I knew it was serious. The staff kept coming in and out to stop the bleeding.

“I knew I had died. I was separate from my body. Then I just went to sleep and I woke up, alive and the bleeding had stopped. I knew it wasn’t my time to die.”

Mr Hill said his brush with death helped him to “refocus” his life.

It was in the summer of 2021 that Mr Hill’s problems began when his legs started to swell up because they were retaining excess water. At multiple treatments he underwent a heart operation to replace a valve in January 2022.

Mr Hill said: “After my operation I caught calciphylaxis. This is a rare condition that only one in five people are diagnosed with.

“I had the disease for months. My skin was eating away at me.”

Now Mr Hill his recovering and back at home with his wife Camille Hill.
