Man arrested after police chase after out-of-control car in ‘dangerous’ pursuit

A man has been ested after police chased a car that was driving “erratically” in a pursuit through towns in Essex. Police intelligence suggested the Audi A3 was of interest as part of an ongoing investigation into threats to kill and firearm and weapons offences. When a request was made for the car to stop on a road near to Woodham Mortimer, close to Maldon shortly after 1.40pm this afternoon, it refused.

Officers pursued the Audi, which Essex Police said was being driven “erratically” through Ulting and Hatfield Peverel.

The car then joined the northbound A12 before exiting the road at Witham.

A police vehicle then positioned itself in front of the Audi and the pursuit came to an end. There was no risk to the public.
