Man and woman hospitalised after concrete slab hurled at taxi


A man and a woman were taken to hospital after a concrete slab was hurled at a taxi.

The slab was reportedly thrown from a pedestrian flyover on the B921, in Fife, Scotland. The pair were in a taxi heading towards Kinglassie at around 12.30am on Sunday, August 6.

A man and woman, both 37, were taken to Glenrothes Hospital for treatment, reports the Daily Record. It is the third similar incident to happen in the area.

A vehicle was struck by a wheelie bin from above on Sunday, July 16. While another car was hit on Wednesday, July 19.

No one was injured on the previous occasions but the two vehicles involved were damaged. Officers are now appealing for witnesses.

Police Scotland Inspector Kirk Donnelly of Glenrothes Police Station, said: “Two people have suffered injuries as a result of these reckless actions and there could easily have been far more serious consequences.

“I would therefore appeal to anyone who witnessed any of the incidents or has any information that might assist with our inquiries to contact us on 101, quoting reference 0108 of August 6, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
