A major British pub chain is offering England women’s football fans free pints this Sunday if they show their support for the Lionesses during the World Cup final.
Between 11am and 2pm on game day, more than 900 Greene King Sport pubs will give their customers a free drink – but only if they hit a few important criteria.
To get your hands on an alcoholic or non-alcoholic freebie, you need to wear the England Kit, England colours or England face paint.
Pubgoers will get to choose one drink from a huge selection of options, including cask ales, soft drinks, lagers, craft beers, wines, spirits and mixers, the pub shared with Express.co.uk.
Michelle West, head of sport marketing for Greene King said: “The team has performed incredibly over the course of the tournament, and we’re so excited for the final against Spain this Sunday.”
She added: “This is the first time any England football team has been in a World Cup final since 1966 so we want to throw the ultimate celebration in all of our 900+ Sport pubs.
“We’re asking fans to head to their local Greene King Sport pub and show their colours in support of the team, literally – all you need to do is wear England colours, kit or face paint and you can grab yourself a free drink.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to get behind the team and continue to boost the profile of women’s sport in the UK, so join us for the ultimate party this weekend.”
Women’s football has grown hugely in recent years with one study in 2022 revealing that nearly four in ten people couldn’t name a single England female footballer.
But this month that number has dropped to under three in ten, clearly showing the jump in support for the women’s game following the success of the squad in the Euros and during the World Cup.
