A major UK motorway is closed in both directions after a “serious” crash reportedly involving schoolchildren this morning.
The coach has flipped over on the M53 northbound between Eastham and Bebington.
Local reports are suggesting the coach involved is a school coach – but Merseyside Police is yet to confirm this.
The crash happened at around 8am on Friday morning.
All emergency services are on scene along with North West Air Ambulance Services.
National Highways Traffic Officers are also at the scene providing assistance with traffic management.
Police are advising people to avoid the area as all traffic has been stopped and the road is likely to remain closed for “some time.”
