Major London station evacuated during rush hour after fire alarm 'set off maliciously'


A major London station had to be evacuated after a fire alarm was “set off maliciously”.

The British Transport Police were called at 8.44am after a fire alarm began sounding – causing Victoria Station to be evacuated in the middle of rush hour.

A spokesperson told Express.co.uk: “We were called at 8.44am after a passenger set off a fire alarm causing the station to be evacuated. This is believed to have been done maliciously. Enquiries are ongoing.”

Passengers took to Twitter to share their frustrations, with one writing: “How’s Victoria station being evacuated the one day I’m on time to the office.”

Another said it was “scary” as people rushed for the exit as the alarm sounded.
