Madeleine McCann breakthrough as 'most important witness' to testify in court case

A convicted rapist who is the prime suspect in the Madeleine McCann case will face a key witness who he had tried to have excluded from a major upcoming trial.

Christian Brueckner, 45, will stand trial in February and is accused of raping and sexually assaulting several women and a young girl over a 17 year period – from 2000 to 2017.

The attacks are all said to have culminated when the predator lived on the Algarve in Portugal, and encapsulate the time in which Madeleine, aged just three, was snatched in May 2007 when she was on holiday with her parents, friends and her two siblings.

This key witness remained a threat to Brueckner as she helped to send him down for two rapes in 2019. The incident that happened to her is said to have taken place a year before the world was shook by the disappearance of Madeleine.
