Machete-wielding thug gets into college grounds – but parents 'were not told'

A thug has brandished a machete outside a college with parents left fuming and claiming bosses failed to tell them.

The unidentified male was spotted carrying the enormous blade at Solihull College and University Centre on Monday (September 25).

Images posted online show a youth dressed in black outside the college in Solihull, near Birmingham, along with a group brandishing the potentially deadly weapon.

An alarmed parent, who was not identified by Birmingham Live, is quoted by the news website as saying: “As if this happens at my daughter’s college. None of the parents have been notified.”

Another person described the image as “shocking and sickening”, adding: “Kids are not safe anywhere.”

A college spokesperson said: “Solihull College and University Centre is working closely with the police after an incident where a group of people appeared at the front of the college on Monday with one of them holding what appeared to be a machete.

“Contrary to social media reports, no-one was hurt and the group dispersed quickly.

“The person was not a student. We have added extra security around the college grounds.

“The police are continuing their investigation. If any student is concerned please talk to your tutor.”

West Midlands Ambulance Service told Birmingham Live it had no record of being called to the college.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “We received a report of a man being seen with a machete in Blossomfield Road, Solihull, at around 12.30pm on Monday (25 September).

“We’re carrying out enquiries and anyone with information is asked to contact us via Live Chat on our website, or by calling 101, and quote 20/714553/23.”

The news comes after a dispersal order was imposed on Solihull town centre after reports of anti-social behaviour. It covered Bruteon Park and Malvern Park.
