A huge lorry fire has caused a major UK motorway in both directions. Emergency services rushed to the scene on the M56 in Greater Manchester this evening after a vehicle burst into flames.
Smoke can be seen for miles accross the region, while motorway traffic has been halted in both directions due to the blaze. It is unknown whether there have been any injuries as a result of the incident.
Footage from motorway cameras shows a huge fireball engulfing a HGV lorry, with all three emergency services currently at the scene.
The incident is ongoing currently on the eastbound carriageway between J14 for Hapsford and J12 for Runcorn. Congestion is building, causing major delays.
